At Etsy, the people behind the marketplace are just as unique and special as the items for sale. Whether someone joins Etsy as an engineer, product manager, or customer service representative; as their first job or decades into their career, there’s one thing they all have in common: the ability to have an impact. Etsy empowers employees to work on high-impact projects that positively affect the 3.7 million creative entrepreneurs who sell on our platform. Now, we’re excited to open this opportunity to even more candidates in 2021.

While 2020 was an unprecedented and challenging year, the Etsy team stepped up in a major way to keep our marketplace thriving and support small businesses at a time when they needed it most. Growth in the Etsy marketplace led to strong financial and stock market performance, including our entrance into the S&P 500, where we were one of the year’s top performers. In 2021, we are continuing momentum with ambitious plans. To achieve these goals, we are actively looking to expand our team and welcome new talent and fresh perspectives. We are opening a significant number of roles across teams and functions — and around the globe. While expanding our product and engineering teams will be a major focus, we’ll also be scaling in other areas to keep pace with the growth of our business.

Etsy has long had a hybrid-working model — with some teams in the same place, and others distributed across our headquarters, regional offices, co-working spaces, and remote locations around the world. The abrupt transition to fully remote work in 2020 reinforced the belief that our employees can be high performers wherever they work, and we’ve expanded our approach by opening the majority of new roles to remote candidates and allowing our existing employees to apply to be fully or partially remote. We believe this will help Etsy to attract the best talent from different locations and provide our existing teams with the flexibility they need to do their best work.

I can’t emphasize enough that we love our offices and believe in-person, human connection between teammates is essential. We plan to continue to invest in our physical working locations, adapt them for a safe and collaborative future, and come together to celebrate key moments in-person when it’s safe for our offices to re-open.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are ingrained in Etsy’s mission to Keep Commerce Human and we have worked hard to align those principles with our approach to the future of work. As we expand our workforce, we will focus on continuing to attract and retain diverse talent while supporting our community through inclusive and concrete financial investments. We are proud to offer incredibly generous benefits packages, which include everything from 26-week gender-blind parental leave to competitive compensation & equity, and from comprehensive healthcare coverage to volunteer paid time off, among a long list of other benefits.

As such, Etsy has long been recognized as an employer of choice, including Built In NYC’s 100 Best Places to Work and 50 Companies with the Best Benefits in NYC, in addition to Fast Company’s Best Workplace for Innovators and 10 most innovative retail companies of 2020, and Fortune’s Change the World list, among others.

Here at Etsy, you can see your work make a true difference in people’s lives: we’re large enough that you’ll focus on meaningful, complex challenges, but small enough that you can make noticeable, rewarding contributions.
